The Il Cantone farm was founded in the heart of the Reggio Emilia plain, in San Martino di Guastalla, where the Benatti family has cultivated a deep connection with the land and Emilian farming traditions for generations. Our project stems from the desire to preserve and promote the Reggio Emilia Red Cow breed, a genetic and cultural heritage that was at risk of extinction, but which today represents the beating heart of our business.

We are breeders, cheesemakers, and custodians of ancient knowledge, passed down with pride and dedication. Every day, we work to offer authentic, healthy, and delicious products, the fruit of a short and controlled supply chain, where nothing is left to chance.

Our mission: quality, sustainability, and authenticity
Il Cantone is more than just a farm: it´s a place where quality meets sustainability, where respect for animals and the environment guides every production decision. Our mission is clear: to produce excellent cheeses using artisanal methods, enhancing the milk of the Vacche Rosse Reggiane and offering consumers an authentic, transparent, and informed experience.

We believe in ethical agriculture that protects biodiversity and promotes animal welfare. Our animals live in large spaces, are fed natural fodder grown in our fields, and are not subjected to intensive treatments. This approach is reflected in the quality of our milk and, consequently, in our products.

Our products: the taste of tradition
In our small dairy, we produce fresh dairy products such as butter, caciotta and semi-aged cheeses, yogurt, fresh pasteurized milk, and ice cream. The milk used for producing Red Cow Parmigiano Reggiano is processed at the Latteria Agricola Begozzo. Each product is made with fresh milk milked the same day and crafted using traditional techniques.

Parmigiano Reggiano is aged in controlled environments, where time and care transform the milk into a cheese with an intense flavor, rich in nuances, and highly digestible. The caciottas and fresh cheeses, available in various flavors, are perfect for those seeking authentic and versatile flavors. The creamy and natural yogurt is ideal for a healthy breakfast or a nutritious snack.

We believe in the value of a short supply chain and in building a direct relationship with those who choose our products. For this reason, for years we have operated a farm shop where customers can buy directly from the producer. Each visit is an opportunity to experience our work up close, see the animals, tour the farm, and savor the true essence of the Reggio countryside.

We regularly participate in local fairs and markets, such as "Piante e Animali Perduti" in Guastalla, to promote agricultural culture, biodiversity, and the value of artisanal products.
